Night of Ideas at Cork International Film Festival
The Night of Ideas is a global event led by the Institut Français that honours the exchange of thoughts across nations, cultures, and generations, bridging countries and offering unique pathways for idea exploration. We are delighted to present Ila Bêka & Louise Lemoine’s Rehab (from rehab) for The Night of Ideas at 6pm on Wednesday 1st May at The Arc Cinema Cork.
Recounting her personal story as a young girl who spent her childhood in rehabilitation centres alongside her severely disabled father, Louise Lemoine confronts her traumatic memories with the exceptional experimentation developed at REHAB in Basel, a building built twenty years ago by Herzog & de Meuron.
This poignant and engrossing film will be followed by a panel discussion with Margaret Murphy (Ireland), Lead Advisor Emeritus WHO Patients for Patient Safety and John McLaughlin, a practicing architect and senior lecturer in architectural design at CCAE in University College Cork, hosted by Anna Kopecká, artistic curator.

“The film, by astute documentary makers Bêka & Lemoine, brings out the human life of the place, focusing on the stories of some patients, and the multiple ways that the building supports their recovery”. The Guardian
