Cinema has given us some of the greatest love stories of all time, from first dates and chance encounters to unlikely friendships and happily-ever-afters.
But what about the love stories happening just beyond the cinema screen?
As part of the 71st Cork International Film Festival, we’re looking for couples with a special connection to film, cinema or the Festival to share their stories as part of a new project inspired by the much-loved romantic comedy When Harry Met Sally, presented in collaboration with the UCC Department of Theatre.
Perhaps your first date was at the cinema. Maybe you met at CIFF and shared your first film together. Or perhaps coming to the Festival has become a tradition you return to as a couple year after year.
However your story began, we want to hear from you.
Selected couples will be filmed sharing their stories in the Cork City area in mid-October 2026.
These pre-recorded stories will then be screened as part of a live rehearsed reading of When Harry Met Sally at The Granary Theatre, University College Cork, on Friday, 13 November 2026, as part of the 71st Cork International Film Festival.
Who can take part?
We’re looking for couples who have a story to tell and a connection to film, cinema or Cork International Film Festival.
Your story could be about:
- Meeting at CIFF
- Having your first date at the cinema
- Watching a particular film together that became special to you
- Returning to CIFF together year after year
- Getting engaged or married after meeting through a shared love of film
- Any other special way that film or CIFF has been part of your relationship
We welcome stories from couples of all ages, backgrounds and stages of relationships.
