1983 Highlights
- Opening Gala: (UK/Ireland) Irish Premiere of Enda O'Briens,
The Country Girls, directed by Desmond Davies.
- Cork Festival makes a profit in 20 years. Co-Directors
Ronnie Saunders and Robin O'Sullivan announce that the festival
brings in box office receipts of £9,000.
- Short Film Programme returns to the festival
- Organisers of the Cork Festival of Film commit themselves
to staging the event for the next two years and hope the
1985 format can take in a competitive aspect
- Robin O'Sullivan, Co-Director agrees to accept an invitation
to set up a working party to restore the festival to full
international status
- Closing Gala: (USA) Zelig, directed by Woody Allen
