    Shooting High Definition Video Using the Canon 5D Mk2 & the Canon 7D – A whole New World of Film Making using DSLRs

    Philip Bloom has filmed, directed and edited short films, documentaries and much more. In 2005 he was short listed for a BAFTA craft award for his series of short films for Sky News, “If I were Prime Minister”.

    Philip’s work includes films for Discovery HD, Five, Living, Sky One and many more.

    He is also director of the production company “Some Like It Shot Productions” and co-founder of online training resource, “F-Stop Academy”.

    Phlip Bloom will present a masterclass which is open to emerging filmmakers and those who have done a course in film production. The course fee is €25.

    Masterclass with Georges Schwizgebel

    Georges Schwizgebel is the author of 14 short films and has won prizes at Cannes, Annecy, Zagreb, Hiroshima, Stuttgart, Ottawa and Espinho.

    Two of his films, 78 R.P.M. (1985) and The Ride to the Abyss (1992), rank among the hundred most influential animated films on a list published by the Festival d’Annecy in 2006.

    Georges will present a masterclass which is open to those with a serious interest in animation. The course fee is €25.

    Masterclass with Peter Tscherkassky

    For over a decade, Peter Tscherkassky has been making films without the use of a camera. Using found footage, every single frame is painstakingly fashioned by hand.

    Peter Tscherkassky has been honored with 45 prizes and awards to date, including the San Francisco Golden Gate Award and the Grand Prize at Oberhausen.

    Alex MacKenzie Workshop

    Flashes of Light: 16mm Rayogram, Contact Printing and Hand Processing Workshop with Alex Mackenzie

    This workshop explores moving image rayograms— whereby a variety of objects are placed on the surface of the film, exposed to light, and processed to negative. 16mm film stock will be supplied. Film will be hand processed, hung to dry and screened.
    NOTE: please bring small objects you might want to place on the film. No prior experience necessary. Spaces are limited.

    Meet The Filmmaker

    During the festival we host a series of informal Q & A sessions with some of the national and international filmmakers who are attending the festivival. Taking place in a relaxed atmosphere, these sessions provide the opportunity for both the public and other filmmakers to gain insights into the work and practice of filmakers.
