Sabine is a high school French teacher and gives her class a translation exercise based on a news story from the past about a terrorist who planted a bomb in the airline luggage of his pregnant girlfriend. When one of her students, an orphan, takes the exercise online -in the guise of that couple's now-teenaged child -it ignites a globe-spanning controversy. Director Atom Egoyan cements his position as one of the major figures of contemporary independent cinema with this tale of alienation and isolation, mediated through technology and the greater world.
