Focus on Robbie Ryan

When previewing the three thousand plus films submitted to the Festival, there is always a rush of excitement and anticipation to see Robbie Ryan’s name attached to a film. Time after time, this Dublin– born cinematographer impresses with his originality and arresting visual style.

It is this visual innovation that has seen Robbie emerge as one of the most sought-after and exciting cinematographers working today, carving out a a body of work spanning major feature films, numerous award-winning shorts, and an impressive résumé of advertising and music video work.

Among his work to have been screened in Cork in recent years are Wasp - winner of the Academy Award for Best Live Action Short in 2003, the Bafta-winning Shadowscan and Antonio’s Breakfast as well as Billy O’Brien’s horror feature Isolation and Andrea Arnold’s Red Road, the recipient of a 2006 Cannes Prix du Jury.

We are delighted that Robbie will join us here in Cork to take us through a selection of his his short film work as well as a selection of music promos and adverts. R. Casey
