Prominent US directors such as Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola and Woody Allen adore European cinema and find inspiration
in European Films. Their attitude implies the notion of European cinema as a well-defined entity. Yet, the existence itself of th e european cinema is questionable. When is a film European? Does Europe have a style? This lecture will look at the past, the present and the future of European film production.
