We celebrate the 20th anniversary of Babette’s Feast with a special screening at our annual Slow Food Evening. We combine the definitive slow food film with a tasty treat from Food For Thought and a glass of very fine Febvre wine. Join us for this rare chance to see this beautiful film on the big screen!
Slow Food is a non-profit, eco-gastronomic organization that was founded in 1989 to counteract fast food and fast life, the disappearance of local food traditions and people’s dwindling interest in the food they eat, where it comes from, how it tastes and how our food choices affect the rest of the world. Quail stuffed with truffles, foie gras, turtle soup, baba au rhum, Veuve Clicquot…just a small part of (five star chef-de-cuisine) Babette’s feast which she serves up for the visiting dignitaries. Exiled from her native France to a remote North Sea coast, Babette gathers the local townfolk to her table, some elderly, some puritan and all with their own stories. Slowly, through the magic of her beautiful food – the atmosphere changes.
