The Corona Cork Film Festival which will take place from October 14th to 21st has partnered with local firm, Pócatech Ltd, to make the full festival programme available for attendees to check on their mobile phones. The mobile programme, which is compatible with over 100 phone models, can be ordered via text message and downloaded to the attendee’s phone in only a few minutes.

The technology, which was developed by Pócatech, allows the content of the 130-page catalog to be compressed into a format that will fit on a mobile phone. The programme allows users to check the current days event, search for events during the week and call the festival box office easily to book tickets.

Festival Director’ Mick Hannigan added “We are very excited about this new and effective method of communicating with our audience. For festival-goers to have all relevent information about the screenings on their mobile phones is convenient for them and advantageous to us. It’s also gratifying to be part of technological innovation.”

 

John Casey, director of Pócatech said “We are delighted to be working with the Corona Cork Film Festival to add another channel for them to get programme information to their core audience aswell as people who may be new to the festival. I think it’s an indication of the organisers’ foresight that a festival which is focused on the big screen is the first to offer a service which is designed with a much smaller screen in mind.”.

He added “It is particularly pleasing to us that the first use of this technology, which was developed here in Cork, should be by a local festival which is held in great esteem by the people of the city. We could think of no better way to launch our product.”

The service is available now and can be ordered by simply texting FILM to 53033. The cost of the service is 60c plus standard data charges.
