Meet the Filmmaker
Monday 15th to Saturday 20th | 5.00pm | Triskel Café

From Monday 15th we host a series of informal Q & A sessions with some of the national and international filmmakers who are attending the festival. Taking place in a relaxed atmosphere, these sessions provide the opportunity for both the public and other filmmakers to gain insights into the work and practice of filmmakers.
All are welcome.

Documentary Masterclass: Peter Raymont

Peter Raymont
Filmmaker, journalist and writer, Peter Raymont has produced and directed over 100 documentary films and series during a 34-year career. His films have taken him to Ethiopia, Nicaragua, India, Rwanda, the High Arctic and throughout North America and Europe. Raymont is the recipient of 35 international awards including the Canadian Genie, 4 Gemini Awards, several Gold and Silver Hugos, The Sesterce d’Argent and other international honours. His documentary feature, Shake Hands with the Devil: The Journey of Roméo Dallaire was honoured with the Audience Award for World Cinema Documentaries at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival.

Raymont’s films are often provocative investigations of ‘hidden worlds’ in politics, media and big business. His films are informed with a passion for human rights and social justice and are regularly broadcast on private and public TV networks worldwide.

Peter’s latest documentary, A Promise To The Dead: The Exile Journey of Ariel Dorfman, is screening at the festival.

John Dahl
John Dahl is a master of modern film noir who has injected new life into the genre with a series of tough, economical and atmospheric tales – Kill Me Again (1989), Red Rock West (1993) and most famously perhaps, the acclaimed The Last Seduction (1994). With Rounders (1998) John made the great poker movie and helped advance the careers of Edward Norton and Matt Damon. With Joyride (2001) Dahl proved himself yet again a master of the noir thriller.

John’s latest film, You Kill Me, is screening at the festival.
