We Are All Fine
Ma Hameh Khoubim

It was as if Jamshid Sakhaei had disappeared. When he moved abroad to work he left behind him his mother, father, grandfather, brother, sister, wife and daughter. For years they heard nothing from him when all of a sudden, he sends a messenger to his family. He carries with him a photo of Jamshid and he instructs the Sakhaeis to make a family video for him. This intrusion of Jamshid into their lives and routine causes certain members to question themselves in relation to this prodigal son. Omid, the younger son of the family, rents a handicam and records images of members of the family. As they talk in front of the camera family tensions come to the surface.
With its breezy and relaxed tone Mirbagheri’s film is well attuned to the ironies in contemporary Iranian society. |
