Hohokam
Frank V Ross
USA | 2007 | 72mins | Beta | Colour | Subtitled |
|
After an old friend’s visit ends, Lori is feeling a bit down. Bored with her job, agitated at home, and frustrated with money problems, Lori takes out her anger on her ex-marine boyfriend, Anson. However, after a broken mug, a trip to the zoo and a case of the shingles Lori’s mood changes.
Whereas Frank V Ross’s previous film Quietly On By was focused on the romantic travails of its lead character Hohokam is a much more diffuse and far more comic experience, focusing instead on the minutiae of relationships. Ross’ hand-held DV approach produces a fly-on-the-wall intimacy as he demonstrates genuine respect and affection for the characters. |
