Hardly freed from a French prison, Kamel is deported to his native state, Algeria, and discovers a country split between modernity and tradition.
Kamel is on a journey as a member of a new diaspora. On his return, he re-discovers
the pleasures of the Algerian male society he left behind with it’s brotherhood and traditions. All is under threat however in a new political scene, and it is the women he meets in this unfamiliar Algeria who set a new configuration for him.
Women appear to be confined but in some ways, they have an overpowering freedom, especially in the countryside. Their actions are imbued with values such as honour and dignity. Rabah Ameur-Zaïmeche
