Max Skinner is a high achieving, self-satisfying trader
who rules the roost in the steel and glass world of
London’s financial district where dubious business
dealings, casual sex and rampant egotism are par for
the course. While celebrating yet another monetary success,
he learns his Uncle Henry has died.
Henry had owned a vineyard estate in Provence and Max
had spent his formative childhood summers there while
Henry had tried to educate him in the gentle art of
savouring life – and wine. Having not seen Henry
in twenty years, Max is surprised to learn he has inherited
the entire estate. Keenly nosing an easy profit he arranges
a quick trip to France to appraise the old property.
Max finds himself at a personal and professional crossroads
in this beautifully realised setting, and his haste
to sell the property falters when memories of his idyllic
childhood rush back, and overpower his narcissistic
present.
