LEAVING CERTIFICATE FILM LECTURES IN THE CLASSROOM

This guest lecture is designed to provide students with a concise and focused master-class in the film they are studying for their Leaving Certificate. The lecture will provide a framework, through which the students can read and critically interrogate the film they are studying. The following points will be covered during the lecture:
- LC FILMS – MY LEFT FOOT, TWELVE ANGRY MEN, WITNESS, A ROOM WITH A VIEW, IL POSTINO & THE TRUMAN SHOW
- The significant themes explored in the film.
- The film in the context of cinematic genre and the global film industry.
- The environment and ecology of the film (cultural context).
- The director and the director’s vision.
- The style and techniques used in the film, and the aesthetic choices made by the director.
