This is the story of David Best, the most celebrated artist to emerge from the twenty-year creative maelstrom of counter culture that is Burning Man, the most unique arts festival in the world.

Filmed over the course of five years The Temple Builder explores the character and motivations of Best within the context of his work and devoted crew and family. The documentary paints a deeply intimate portrayal of the artist from his incredible art cars to his stunningly beautiful and intricately designed temples, dedicated to the dead and burnt to the ground within days of completion.
