1963 Highlights

  • Fastest ticket sales ever. There is not a seat left in the Savoy Cinema one week prior to the festival.
  • Largest number of entries to date - 30 countries participate in the festival including films from newcomers such as Bulgaria, Ceylon and Korea.
  • 20 feature films submitted
  • 2 world premieres: The Leatherboys from Britain and The Pact of Silence from Spain by Antonio Roma
  • Launch of the award scheme for TV commercials which is won in conjunction with the Irish Association of Specialized Film Producers
  • Festival is opened by Hilton Edwards, the well known dramatic actor
  • Opening Gala: (France) Two are Guilty, directed by Andre Cayatte
  • Closing Gala: (Mexico) The Paper Man, directed by Ismael Rodriguez
