Tribute to Louis Marcus
As the Film Festival celebrates its Gala Jubilee in style, it will
pay a special tribute to Louis Marcus, one of the most prolific
filmmakers in Ireland. Born in Cork in 1936, Louis Marcus has made
more than 80 documentaries and short films, which have received
30 international awards, including festival prizes at Berlin, Moscow,
London, Chicago and Oberhausen. He has also received two Academy
Award Nominations. His television works have appeared on RTE, Ulster
Television and Channel Four.
Tribute to Stephen Woolley
In 2005, the Cork Film Festival plays a special tribute to Stephen
Woolley, one of the most successful British producers of all time.
Stephen Woolley has produced several well known films including
Breakfast in Pluto, Intermission, The End of the Affair and Michael
Collins. The Festival will honour the work of Stephen Woolley and
will screen a selection of his films including his latest film and
directorial debut, Stoned. The film chronicles the sordid life and
suspicious death of Rolling Stone co-founder, Brian Jones who was
found at the bottom of a swimming pool weeks after being left go
from the Rolling Stones. Stephen Woolley will attend the Film Festival.
