Slow Food On Film
Slow Food Cork presents the 3rd year of Slow Food on Film at the
Festival on Monday, October 10th 2005. One of the most successful
programmes in the Festival, this endeavour brings together food
and film in a unique way. Observing the tenets of the Slow Food
Movement slow food producers from Cork city and county serve up
their rare and tasty delights in combination with a series of interesting
short films that deal with joy of food.
This year's theme for the programme is an exploration of our relationship
with food. This delightful evening will be enhanced by the presence
of five well known food producers who will speak and present a selection
of food prior to the screening of each short.
Five Shorts will be screened throughout the evening:
- La Vida Dulce (Cuba) by Bettina Bluemner and Rouven Rech
- Table Manners (Switzerland) by Vania Aillon
- Full Moon at Volga Beach (France) by Camille Mauduech
- Kitchen (France) by Alice Winocour
- A Red Recipe to Cook Crustaceans (Mexico) by Hugo Rodriquez
The diverse selection of shorts range from a delightful Cuban short
documentary which reveals the extent which Havana citizens will
go for a slice of pink gooey cake, to the intricacies of cooking
live lobster when you are actually afraid of lobster, to an exploration
of modern day French cuisine. Many of these short films will inspire
thought on the nature of our relationship with food and the politics
of food production. This will be an evening to savour in the Festival.
