Irish Show Case
Competitive Irish Shorts 5
Programmes each containing eight Irish shorts will compete for the
prestigious Jameson Award. In total forty Irish shorts will compete
for the coveted prize
Irish Examiner "Made in Cork" Award
The Made in Cork Award was launched in the Film Festival in 1997
and has grown in stature to become a very popular and sought after
award. The Irish Examiner "Made in Cork" award has a monetary value
of Û1000 and is given to the best locally produced short. 16 diverse
shorts will take part in the competition.
6 Showcase Programmes (Non Competitive)
(1) Oscailt
This scheme aims to promote short fiction filmmaking in the Irish
language and encourages talent in all areas of Irish language production.
This year Oscailt has broadened to include fictional pieces in animation,
flash animation or docudrama projects. This scheme is co-funded
by the Irish Film Board and TG4. Four Irish language shorts will
be screened in the Oscailt programme
(2)Lasair
Lasair is a scheme cofunded by Filmbase and TG4 as an initiative
to promote new and exciting film production in the Irish language.
Cork Film Festival is delighted to present the 2005 round of the
scheme and will screen four Irish-language shorts
(3) Shortcuts
This is the 11th year of the Shortcuts Programme which aims to add
to the range and scope of Irish talent and to encourage new talent
in all areas of film production. This scheme is co-funded by the
Irish Film Board and RTE and will screen six films.
(4)DEVIATE
2005 sees the world premiere of DEVIATE Ð the latest digital shorts
from Northern Ireland filmmakers. This is a joint initiative which
has been funded by the Northern Ireland Film and Television Commission
and the Media Programme. In total eight shorts have the unique honour
of being part of the DEVIATE Programme.
(5)IRISH FLASH
Cork Film Festival presents the World Premier of the 2005 round
of IRISH FLASH. This scheme aims to add to the range and scope of
Irish animation and to encourage new talent working in this new
digital format. IRISH FLASH will see the screening of 5 innovative
flash animations
