Exploring the Business of Filmmaking

The aim of the seminar is to give emerging filmmakers the oppor-tunity
to gain from the knowledge and experience of established national
production companies. It will explore areas such as when and how
to start a production company, different business models, promoting
your company internationally, strategic planning, and business
and managerial relationships.
The workshop will explore a variety of company models through
structured case studies from national production companies including
Element Films (Ed Guiney), Saffron Pictures (Siobhán Bourke)
and VenomFilm (Ken Wardrop & Andrew Freedman).
The Digital Opportunity: A Guide to Digital Media for Producers
Date: Friday 14th October
This seminar is aimed at Film, Television and Animation producers
seeking to enhance their understanding of digital media. It explores
the opportunities for producers to benefit from the changing media
landscape. Topics include traditional vs. new media, convergence,
changing demographics, where new media have the most profound
effect - mobiles, broadband, games consoles, digital cinema, user-created
content; games and films, profiting from the changing media environment.
This course is presented by Neil Leyden, a digital media consultant
with Calico Media. Neil is chairman of the Digital Media Forum
and has lectured and consulted widely in the area of digital media.
