From the peerless imagination of Tim Burton comes a dark, romantic
fairytale set in a dreary, nineteenth-century European town. Victor
Van Dort (endearingly voiced by Johnny Depp), is an itchy, neurotic
little fellow, whose parents have arranged a marriage for him with
Victoria Everglott. Both families hope that the marriage will bring
success and prosperity and the two feel a spark of true love.
Victor practices his wedding vows in the nearby woods, placing
his ring on a stick poking out of the ground. He gets more than
he bargained for when the stick turns out to be the finger of a
dead woman, and now the Corpse Bride (Helena Bonham Carter) is after
him, claiming to legally be his bride and intent on showing Victor
the time of his after-life.
