music, super-8 films, installations, electronic instruments, film
and live music programmes and light-show projections for concerts
and club nights. Self taught, operating alone and without funding,
he has worked with second-hand and home-made equipment and produced
over 40 short films since the early 1990s. Many of these have been
screened at international festivals, and are distributed by LUX
in London.
He has been teaching 2 courses at an arts centre in Brighton -
Analogue Electronic Music and Super 8 for Beginners, and is currently
selecting the international film programmes for this year`s Avanto
Media Arts festival in Helsinki.
His double cd album retrospective of instrumental and electronic
music has just been released. This will be available from the Festival
Shop.
Ian will be based in the Triskel Arts Centre from Wednesday 12th
to Sunday 16th of October. He will screen his own films as well
as present two shows he has curated, Expo Worlds and Soundtracks
for the City. These will be present-ed using tape, slides and super-8
projectors as well as audio tape.
Expo Worlds (2000-05) is an evolving collection of World`s Fair
film, video, slides and experimental music, incorporating multi-projection
and live performance of archive Expo music.
Soundtracks for the City (2000) - short, silent city trave-logues
issued on super 8, with new experimental soundtracks from a variety
of artists.
Ian has a 'roving brief' so there may be additional shows, workshops,
events depending on time, space, resources and the interest of the
audience.
