Kari Juusonen, why do you make short films?

I cannot imagine a more rewarding relationship between the philosoph- ical and practical level of workingthan making puppet animation. Ican distort reality and interpret it ina new way or accept it as it is. Suddenly all these little ideas formsome kind of cinematic universe, often in a surprising way. What could be more fascinating?

Damien O'Donnell, why do you make short films?

The short film is the purest form of cinema. The films are a selfish exercise in commercial disregard and self-gratification. In my experience Ihave never had the kind of liberty infeature films that I've had in shortfilms. As a control freak I appreciatethat. I also find that in the best shortfilms you will find more style, creativity and imagination packed intoa few short minutes than you wouldfind in dozens of hours of featurefilms. Of course there are alsosome really awful short films - butthey tend to be over before you've had a chance to really hate them.

Royston Tan, why do you make short films?
