Image Q Simon Ellis, why do you make short films?

A Short films, particularly digital ones, are the perfect medium to go to the moon with ideas. With digital technology progressing at such a fast rate, you can conceive an idea, write it, then go and make it before you have a chance to talk yourself out of it. With no-budget work you are answerable to nobody but yourself, and likewise you have nobody to blame but yourself when things don't work out as intended.

All films written & directed by Simon Ellis and produced by Jane Hooks.

Image Q Jens Lien, why do you make short films?
A I make short films because I love the freedom the short format gives. You can be more daring and experimental than other formats. At the same time you can create a unique universe that you only can do in the film media. And you can tell a hell of a lot for not too much money.

All films directed by Jens Lien and written by Per Schreiner.

3 x 3

Over the years, we have been in the privileged position of getting to know the work of short filmmakers.

They kindly submit their new work to us each year and we've grown to eagerly look forward to this…

3 x 3 gives us the opportunity to highlight the work of such filmmakers that remain committed to the short film format and view it as a means to express their artistic vision.

In the parallel world of Cork Film Festival, they are heroes of the short film and auteurs in their own right.
