The Fresh Film Festival, Ireland's most exciting
young people's film festival, takes place in Limerick
over three days in March/April of each year. The
main aim of the Festival is to encourage young people
to make their own films on video. The Festival believes
that this will aid the ongoing development of a strong
film culture in Ireland. Feature film screenings, workshops
and the flagship Irish School's Video Competition are
the main elements in the Festival.
The Fresh programme you will see at this years Cork
Film Festival is taken from the huge selection of work
screened at the Irish School's Video Competition. At
the 2003 festival, there were 40 short films screened
out of more than 100 entries from Irish children between
the ages of 12 and 18. The programme includes the winning
entry 'The Unmentionable' which was also screened in
the adult section of the Galway Film Fleadh, such was
it's quality.
