A female revenge film, Kill Bill is the long-awaited
fourth movie by Quentin Tarantino, who wrote
this as a novel before adapting it for the
screen. An immediate, high-energy explosion
of colour, music and mayhem, the film was
planned as the exploitation film to end all
exploitation films, and manages to pull it
off whilst maintaining the original literary
structure of the film progressing in chapters.
Left for dead on her wedding day by her former
associates, a team of assassins known as the
Deadly Viper Assassination Squad, The Bride
awakens from five years in a coma determined
to avenge her betrayal. One by one she carves
her way through former allies and new enemies,
relentlessly stopping for no one as she makes
her way towards Bill.
Kill Bill is a high-energy, deliriously
bloody collision of exploitation movie and
kung-fu flick that's so wild it had to be
split into two films. - Sight & Sound
