During her hen night, Spanish Flamenco dancer
Carmen must, as tradition dictates, choose
a man from the crowd at the bar to kiss as
a way of bidding goodbye to the single life,
for soon she will be marrying the caring but
dull, Barnaby. From the crowd she chooses
Kit ' an out of work Brazilian actor. This
simple kiss leaves Carmen feeling altered;
awakening in her a mysterious passion.
Although she is irresistibly drawn to the
fiery passion offered by Kit, she nonetheless
goes ahead with the marriage. But this is
not the end of their relationship as the boredom
of life with Barnaby drives her to Kit's bed
and soon the new lovers resort to disguises
and electronic equipment to keep their affair
secret.
Appearances are not what they seem, as the
story's layers are peeled back to reveal an
elaborate web of deceit, lust and distrust.
Toying with illusion and reality, passion
and artifice, Matthew Parkhill's debut feature
provides enough revelations to shatter the
viewer's perception of who the characters
are with every new scene.
